I try to do as much prep work as I can every seventh week. We take one week off every seven weeks to reset everything and to give our brains a bit of rest. I haven’t changed this method since the first year of trying it, and I don’t see it ever changing for us.
That being said if I waited that long to reset everything, it would be a chaotic mess by the seventh week!
Hours Log
All the hours are logged on a day-to-day basis and every Sunday I tally the total. This allows me to glance at the top of each page to put into the master log at the seventh-week mark.
You can find the link to my planning pages here:
Binders
I go through all binders and notebooks to check completed work. I put all completed papers and assignments into an according file to be sorted at the end of the year. Then, I prep and refill the folders for next week.
White Board
I reset poetry, memory verses, calendars, and any other topics I need for our morning board.

Consumables
Most of what I need a printer for is prepped every seventh week, but Fridays are where I get a chance to evaluate the lessons ahead and see if any specifics need to be added. This process also gives me a chance to assess the expected pace ahead.
Bookshelves
We’re working with our children in this area. Books and supplies go back where you find them. We have a couple tidy breaks throughout the day as well as resets between subjects, but we use these shelves frequently. By the end of the week, they all need a refresh.

That about sums up my weekly homeschool checklist. Do you do a weekly reset for your classroom?
